Positioned in Eltham’s central activity zone, and perched high up with sweeping views towards King Lake, this residential development introduces a contemporary insertion of forms and textures which compliments the surrounding Eltham landscape.
Purposefully designed around the character and nature of Eltham, the design provides warmth and tactility through the dominant use of timber, stone and a reliance on a simple materials palette.
Timber cladding and stone walls help tie the project to its surrounding context, while lightweight cantilevered boxes provide a sense of lightness among the treetops. The use of cladding and two strong vertical forms provide a juxtaposition of building forms.
Native vegetation has been provided around the 3 buildings, with communal pedestrian access ways serving as the main thoroughfare across the site.
The buildings have been layered and articulated providing a sympathetic design response to the fundamental design principles held in Eltham.
